Fleet Auto Glass in Raleigh, NC

A smiling technician checking the wheel arch of a car on a lift

Fleet auto glass in Raleigh is about one thing: getting the vehicle back to work. A landscaping truck with a cracked windshield, a contractor’s van with a smashed side door glass, a pickup whose rear glass met a ladder, a sales car with a chip spreading across the driver’s view. Every hour it sits is a crew waiting or a route not run. Impex Auto Glass names fleet work as one of its focuses, stocks common fleet glass, and does the work where the vehicles are: the yard, the job site or the office lot.

Raleigh Auto Glass Service is Impex Auto Glass serving the south of Raleigh and the Triangle side of Harnett County. For a single car or truck, the pages on door glass replacement in Raleigh and back windshield replacement in Raleigh cover the jobs one by one.

Request a fleet glass quote

Start with one vehicle: the glass, the year, make and model, and how to reach you. Mention that it is a work vehicle and how many others you run, and Impex will take it from there.

What makes fleet glass different

A work vehicle breaks glass more often than a family car and needs it back sooner. Trucks on job sites run on gravel and behind other trucks. Vans get loaded and unloaded against their own rear doors. Ladders, pipe and lumber shift in beds. And a vehicle that is down is not just an inconvenience; it is a day’s work that does not happen.

  • The part has to be right first time. Impex orders by VIN, so a van’s rear door glass or a truck’s sliding rear glass arrives as the version that vehicle was built with.
  • Common parts on hand. Impex states that it stocks common fleet glass, which helps with the work vehicles most businesses run.
  • The work comes to the vehicle. A mobile visit means no driver tied up taking a truck across town and waiting.
  • The quote is the whole price. Impex’s quotes are meant to be fully inclusive, with no hidden fees, upsells, delivery charges, fuel fees or disposal fees, which makes vehicle-by-vehicle costs easy to track.
  • Calibration in the same visit. When a windshield replacement calls for the forward camera to be calibrated, Impex performs it on site, without a separate dealership appointment.

Windshields

The windshield is the glass a fleet loses most often, to stones off trucks and gravel lots. North Carolina’s covered-load law, G.S. 20-116(g), requires trucks over 7,500 pounds carrying rock, gravel or stone to keep the load six inches below the walls and securely covered, because loose stone is a road hazard. It still happens. A small chip away from the edge can often be repaired: ROLAGS, the repair standard, treats stone breaks up to two inches across and single cracks up to 14 inches as repairable, and Impex says repair is possible when the damage is small, shallow and away from the edges. Catching chips early keeps a vehicle on the road instead of off it for a replacement.

When the windshield is replaced, Impex puts the job at about one hour plus a short curing period, with most vehicles back on the road within two hours. Newer work trucks and vans increasingly carry forward cameras for lane departure warning and collision braking; I-CAR lists removing the windshield as an event that may require aiming that camera, and Impex states that it calibrates on site after replacement, with static and dynamic calibrations in one visit and calibration taking between 30 minutes and 2 hours.

Door and side glass

Work trucks and vans are broken into for their tools, and the door glass is how. Impex puts a side window at about 30 to 60 minutes, and the vehicle can be driven straight away, which matters when the tools have been replaced and the crew is waiting. The door glass replacement page explains the visit.

Rear glass and van door glass

Pickup rear glass, fixed or sliding, and the glass in van rear doors take knocks from loads. Impex puts a back glass at about one to two hours, with the rear defroster left off for 24 hours afterwards. Side panes on vans and SUVs, and the small fixed windows, are covered on the quarter glass replacement page.

How a fleet glass visit is planned

  1. Tell Impex the vehicles. Year, make, model and VIN for each, and which glass is damaged. A spreadsheet or a list of VINs is fine.
  2. Get the quote. Impex verifies each part by VIN and quotes each vehicle, so you can see the cost per unit.
  3. Settle how it is paid. Some vehicles may go through insurance and some may not; tell Impex which, and give the policy or claim numbers for the ones that do.
  4. Pick the place and time. Your yard before the crews leave, a job site, or the office lot during the day. The technician needs level ground, room to open the doors, and dry glass.
  5. The work and the hand-back. Each vehicle is done, checked and handed back with any aftercare: no rear defroster for a day after a back glass, no car wash and no slammed doors for 24 hours after a windshield.

For a single vehicle, the quote form on this page or a phone call is the quickest start. For several, call and talk it through so the visit can be planned around the vehicles.

Insurance on commercial vehicles

Commercial auto policies vary more than personal ones, so check yours. As a general rule in North Carolina, glass breakage falls under comprehensive coverage, which the NC Department of Insurance says pays the cost of repair less any deductible, and North Carolina has no law that waives the deductible for glass. On a business policy with a high deductible, many glass jobs will cost less than the deductible, and paying directly is simpler.

When you do claim, G.S. 58-3-180 lets the claimant choose the repair service, and the insurer owes the same amount whichever one you pick. Impex works with all major insurance providers. A comprehensive glass claim is not an at-fault accident, although insurers may look at how often claims are filed, including fault-free ones, and that is worth keeping in mind on a fleet policy.

Questions drivers ask

Can you replace glass at our yard or job site?

Yes. Impex is a mobile service in Raleigh. The technician needs level ground, room to open the doors and dry glass, so a covered bay helps if rain is due.

Do you stock glass for work trucks and vans?

Impex states that it stocks common fleet glass, and it verifies every part by VIN before ordering.

Can several vehicles be done in one visit?

Call with the list of vehicles and VINs and the glass on each, and the visit can be planned around them.

Is camera calibration done for work vehicles?

When a windshield replacement calls for it, Impex calibrates on site, with static and dynamic calibration in one visit. Impex says calibration takes between 30 minutes and 2 hours.

Should we claim fleet glass on insurance?

Compare the quote with the deductible on your commercial policy. Glass breakage normally falls under comprehensive, less the deductible, and North Carolina has no zero-deductible glass law.
